I NEEDED TO TEACH MY KIDS HOW TO COOK AT UNIVERSITY
Welcome to the Flat Cap Chef, inspired by the need to teach my kids (can’t really see them buying and using a cookery book when you can use a quick video) the basics of survival in the kitchen. This is the absolute beginners guide to cooking, BUT building up to being a bit more daring! You will find me on YouTube if you search 'theflatcapchef'.My aim is to answer the questions you might be embarrassed to ask because they seem too simple and to build up a library of videos covering simple explanations of veg/meats/fruit plus how to prepare ingredients and then on to easy, tasty and cost effective recipes to give anyone confidence in the kitchen.

WHY THE FLAT CAP
It’s a nod to my heritage born and raised in Barrow in the North of England, in fact "..I was at the same school as one my cooking heroes the now sadly late but always great Hairy Biker Dave Myers…" ...just a bit younger. If you expect high quality video, studio lighting you can forget it this is me sharing my years of learning in my own kitchen with a camera phone and a little tripod!
